A Brief History

Bill Firth and Peter Dorreen commenced the practice of Firth Dorreen Architects in February 1996. Prior to that both Bill and Peter had managed successful practices in their own right from 1969 and 1972 respectively. Peter's practice grew to a sound broad based medium sized practice while Bill built his into a flourishing multi branch practice before merging with a large national practice to become one of Australia's largest with offices in all capital cities plus Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.

The establishment of Firth Dorreen Architects fulfilled Peter's need for a senior partner with wide ranging skills and experience and also Bill's desire to return to a practice that would allow a hands on approach to the practice of architecture and project realization.

In the years the partnership has been established, it has grown from strength to strength and doubled its turnover in each successive year of operation.

Firth Dorreen Architects grew to encompass a project management division, directed by David Luxton. This division was incorporated to offer our clients a multi-disciplined project management and construction management service. During David's 25 years in the construction industry, he has managed to combine project and construction management experience with project estimating and contract administration skills of a high order. He is a multi-skilled professional with a detailed, methodical approach to problem solving and has developed considerable expertise in value adding through providing economical solutions to project buildability requirements.

The success of the project management division prompted a decision in January 2005 to collect and rebadge our services under ALTIUS PROJECTS.
